About Me

I am a fully qualified Cognitive Behavioural and EMDR Psychotherapist and an accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). The BABCP is the leading organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. As an accredited member there is an expectation that I adhere to and maintain high standards of conduct, performance and ethics in relation to the therapy that I provide. In order to monitor the effectiveness of my practice and my ability to meet the requirements as set out by the BABCP I attend monthly meetings with an accredited supervisor.

I have been working within the field of counselling and psychotherapy for the past 20 years. During this time I have worked within the NHS, private sector services and private practice. I have completed specific professional qualifications including;

Professional Qualifications:

  • Post-Graduate Diploma In Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBT)

  • EMDR Therapy (level 3)

  • Graduate Diploma in Professional Counselling Studies

  • BA (hons) Degree Counselling

Professional Registration & Membership:

  • Accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

I have had the opportunity to further my knowledge and experience by completing training in areas including; motivational interviewing, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, addictions, palliative care/bereavement and relationships.  Working within both NHS and private sector services has afforded me the opportunity to develop robust risk assessment and effective care-planning skills which are transferred into my private practice, allowing me to provide safe and effective therapy tailored to the needs of the client.

I currently work in private practice supporting clients with mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety and low self-esteem alongside more complex presentations such as bi-polar (manic depression), schizophrenia, substance misuse and pain management.

My practice offers both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and EMDR Therapy treating a wide range of mental health disorders including; depression, anxiety, OCD, panic, trauma (PTSD), phobias, low self-esteem and pain management. Due to my early training as a person-centred counsellor I am committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for therapeutic growth to occur.

Special Interests:

While I have gained the knowledge and developed the necessary skills and experience needed in treating all disorders I do have a special interest in the treatment of depression, low self-esteem and anxiety.
